Guest Lounge Areas

A guest lounge area is a great way to create a cosy and comfortable space for your wedding guests to relax and socialise during the reception. Whether it be for guests who would prefer a quieter space to chat or for those who need to rest their dancing feet, here are some ideas to create a welcoming and inviting guest lounge area:

1. Choose a space

Select a quiet and intimate area of the reception venue where guests can retreat and relax. It can be a separate room or a cosy corner of the main reception space. Aim for somewhere that has gentle lighting and is out of any drafts for comfort.

2. Add seating

Provide comfortable seating options such as sofas, armchairs, and ottomans. You can mix and match different styles and colours to create a cohesive and eclectic look. See if friends or relatives have suitable pieces you could borrow, or alternatively, look for an event decor hire company, like here at The Prop Library, who can help you create the perfect guest lounge area.

3. Guest Comfort

Add soft and cosy elements such as cushions and blankets to make the space feel more inviting and comfortable. You might have these at home or look to buy them, but to reduce costs and avoid being left with lots of items you wonโ€™t use afterwards, you can hire them!

4. Provide entertainment

Consider adding entertainment options such as books or games to keep guests entertained while they relax. A pack of cards, dominoes or Scrabble can entertain young and old alike. Whilst a couple of old classics and a joke book can be a welcome respite for someone who might need a time-out from the festivities.

5. Add decorative elements

Use decorative elements such as flowers, lanterns, or greenery to create a visually appealing atmosphere. These donโ€™t have to be on every surface but consider focussing on key zones, such as the welcome area, the ceremony, the table decor, a cards, gifts and guestbook table and the cake display will allow you to create that cohesive look that pulls everything together.

6. Provide refreshments

Set up a small refreshment station with water, tea, and coffee, or even small snacks like biscuits or fruit, so guests can help themselves.

Remember to add personal touches that reflect your wedding theme and style to make the guest lounge area feel like an extension of the overall wedding decor, even if itโ€™s just a bud vase of flowers. Lastly, ensure that the lounge area is both easily accessible and visible to guests so they can easily find and enjoy it throughout the reception.
