Our Sustainable Business Model

Let’s be honest, the wedding industry has had a bit of a reputation for being wasteful, but thankfully that is changing, and we are proud to be part of that change.

At The Prop Library, we believe that making small but manageable changes is the best way to create more sustainable outcomes. It is simply not realistic to think that people won’t want to make their weddings and other celebrations special; but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a way to lessen their environmental impact.

We aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel, we simply apply the three R’s in our work: Reduce, Re-use, Recyle

Sustainability 'Reduce' Badge

Hiring props & decor reduces the energy and resources needed to produce new products.

By hiring locally, you help to reduce the distances that products need to travel, often from the other side of the world.

A reduction in single-use items, further reduces the waste generated by weddings and special occasions.

We reduce our carbon footprint further by using a green energy supplier.

Sustainability 'Re-Use' Badge

Our whole business model is based on the ‘Re-Use’ principle, and it’s not just our pieces but our packaging too.

Whilst recycling is fantastic, and definitely has it’s place, the benefit of re-using items is that it needs a fraction of the energy of its counterpart. This helps to further reduce carbon emissions.

‘Re-use’ ultimately allows you to hire better quality products than you would buy and without the waste.

Sustainability 'Recycle' Badge

Recycling is the last step in helping to make our industry more sustainable.

As a business, we primarily buy vintage, reclaimed and recycled products wherever possible.

We re-use and then recycle packaging that has come to the end of its life.

When buying supplies, we don’t buy single use plastic and opt for recycled and recyclable packaging.
